ERNIE ELS WINES

Since its launch more than a decade ago Ernie Els Wines has grown and matured into a successful and multi-award winning enterprise with a magnificent portfolio of six South African red wines. In 2011 we have added two new wines to our portfolio - the Big Easy White and the Cabernet Sauvignon. Ernie himself is passionate about wine and is very much involved in the tasting process. In partnership with experienced winemaker Louis Strydom their shared passion for wine is reflected in the quality of the product right across the price ranges.

The flagship Ernie Els is a signature Bordeaux style blend of all five varieties. Engelbrecht Els Vineyards is a Proprietor's Blend combining Ernie's Bordeaux style pallet and former business partner Jean Engelbrecht's love for Shiraz. Cirrus is a joint venture Jean pioneered with the Duncan family of Napa, California.

2009 BIG EASY

The Big Easy is a juicy, shiraz-driven mélange of mixed berries, spice and liquorice. The slight translucence shows the dash of cherry-laden Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon adds serious depth and splashes of Mourvedre and Viognier give a floral but meaty edge. Punchy yet rhythmical, it plays a mellow, jazzy tune of liquorice, herbs, cherries, black pepper and hints of lavender

2011 BIG EASY WHITE

This 100% Chenin Blanc offers an amazing array of tropical fruits, showing the complexity the Cape has to offer. A delicate, perfumed nose balances the crystalline structure and moderately full-bodied palate, completely unhindered by any oak. A hint of almond flakes and sprinkle of spice adds texture and depth. A lively, spritely and juicy wine that builds and builds to finishes in a creamy pina-colada cocktail-swirl.

2010 ERNIE ELS CABERNET SAUVIGNON

The 2010 is the epitome Cabernet Sauvignon. Notes of cassis exude a rich and powerful nose complemented by hints of local fynbos and tobacco smoke. The palate is massively rich, stately and suave, coated by luxurious tannins that melt into its brooding frame. A long mineral tail wags with notes of liquorice and cedar, rounded off by a velvety and seductive grip. Whilst emphatic and approachable now, this classic Cabernet Sauvignon yearns for further aging.

2007 ENGELBRECHT ELS PROPRIETOR'S BLEND

Crimson red with a bright rim. Full, juicy red fruits and floral aromas complete the bouquet. The Engelbrecht Els 2007 has a medium palate weight with tannins that are showing good integration and length. The Initial mineral impression is followed by juicy plum and black cherry flavours and concludes with a smoky coffee aftertaste.
Due to a change in ownership, future vintages of this product will be called Ernie Els Proprietor's Blend.

2005 ERNIE ELS

This is the signature wine from Ernie Els Wines. The combination of red current, cassis and plum fruits supported by violets, black olives and hints of vanilla and spice. The fruit from the aroma follows through unto the delightful palate, supported by an soft mineral feel with hints of oak and backed by a seamless tannin structure. “This elegant wine offers great middle palate complexity with a long spicy finish.”
