RIPPON VINEYARD & WINERY

Rippon Vineyard is located on Mt Aspiring Road overlooking Lake Wanaka. With views of Lake Wanaka and the Buchanan Mountains, it is regarded by many as the most beautiful vineyard site in the world. The land on which Rippon is situated has been in the Mills family for four generations and it is now run by Rolfe and Lois Mills’, the founders, children.

2006 “JEUNESSE” RIESLING
+730501 · 12x750ml

As with the Jeunesse Pinot Noir, this is a wine of exuberance and life; this is a Riesling that speaks of its variety, of its fruit and not yet of its soils. As such, this wine is crisp, fruit driven and best enjoyed in its youth. It is whole bunch pressed and run, by gravity, into a settling tank for 12 hours. The juice is then racked, retaining fine lees, into an horizontal fermentation tank (stainless-steel foudre).

2008 PINOT NOIR
+719944 · 12x750ml

Full yielding, beautiful summer, great team; an outstanding vintage. Fluid, superfine, flatteur. Following 2007’s chunk and compression, these have genuine glide, the French would call it la sève - sap, but not sappy, with juice but necessarily juicy. It’s flow; contiguous tannins with all spaces in between filled with liquid vinosity. With correct cellaring they’ll benefit from at least a decade in bottle.
